The Materials Begin to Speak to Each Other

As I return to this project, I can feel the materials starting to set their own rhythm. On one side of the workbench lie the copper elements — pressed, shaped, and recently soldered, still holding traces of heat. Each one has its own unique tone and patina, born from fire, oxidation, and the unpredictability of the workshop.

On the other side are the Baltic stones, already drilled and ready for the next steps. Although each stone is different, this irregular diversity becomes part of the design: the stone decides its own character.

Working with these two materials reveals very distinct energies. Copper responds to shaping — you can persuade it, guide it. Stone is the opposite; it allows only as much as it chooses. And that contrast is precisely what gives the project its personality.

Each component is slowly approaching the moment when copper and stone will finally meet in a single object.
But for now — I let them rest and settle.
